Provides general legal services to one or more assigned areas focusing on relationships with junior to mid-level OCLO leaders and business partners. Works on routine matters and/or projects with minimal supervision. Works on more complex matters and/or projects with a higher level of supervision primarily with higher level counsel to address legal questions or issues. Exercises judgment in matters which have potential for minimal impact to the company.
Reporting Relationships: May report to Managing Counsel / Senior Counsel / Counsel. Does not have direct reports.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general direction, provides legal services to an assigned area. Works on portions of larger matters. May receive some projects that are designed to develop the attorney's skill. May attend business partner meetings to better understand business processes and needs.
Gathers relevant information from appropriate resources; evaluates the reliability of facts or information obtained. Drafts necessary legal documents and develops conclusions and recommendations for routine legal issues.
Provides legal counsel to other attorneys for the benefit of junior to mid-level business partners in the form of legal research, advocacy, negotiation, or other forms as appropriate that effectively meet the needs of the client. Has little input into Company decision-making.
Contributes to the effective resolution of routine issues by gathering relevant supportive information and conducting legal research in preparation for negotiations. Develops and assesses alternative solutions or positions. Has only occasional interaction with persons outside the Company on behalf of the organization.
Identifies individuals who need to be informed, and keeps them updated. Identifies persons or groups outside of the client who might have an interest in or have access to useful information about the issue, and effectively connects with them.
Establishes relationships and builds rapport with associates at all levels within the OCLO and primarily with junior to mid-level business partners.
Works as a team member on multiple-group/client assignments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: JD degree from an accredited law school. Maintains an active license in the state in which the position is located.
License/Certification/Designation: Currently licensed as an attorney in an appropriate U.S. jurisdiction.
Experience: Developing technical expertise and relevant experience in assigned practice area. Typically, may be newly admitted to practice with up to four years of experience.
Knowledge: Has a limited amount of experience and knowledge in legal practices and procedures. Developing knowledge of the business operations of the company.
Skills/Competencies: Oral and written communication skills needed for interacting with other attorneys and business partners. Analytical ability to interpret statutes, regulations, policies and other contracts. Ability to provide input on projects and matters. May participates in negotiation and conflict resolution processes; may focus more on individual issues rather than the overall strategy.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Additional Job Description
This role will complete legal research and writing related to developing 50 state jurisdictional outlines for all personal lines products that incorporates key legal regulations and other provisions by state. Part of this project includes working with the current team of lawyers to interpret regulatory requirements into easy to follow rules that will be client facing and used as a reference by the Team. Once the outlines are developed, this role will transition to supporting business clients in day-to-day operations. This role will be located in Columbus.
