We do this by transferring risk from our members and managing this risk on our balance sheet. This position supports the business in doing so through capital and risk management activities.
Specifically, the position will
Support NF risk taking through reporting and analysis of current and future capital using short and long term internal and external measurements
Actively participate in the design and execution of risk management strategies at NF and Enterprise levels
Analyze and make change recommendations for investment policies covering 50 billion of assets, including identification and execution of opportunities to improve competitive and/or risk position through ALM
Oversee and continue to evolve processes supporting the business including net investment income allocation, cash, liquidity and related processes
Work with the Actuarial Modernization program to leverage new data, model and analysis/reporting infrastructure for all of the above
This highly visible position presents an excellent opportunity to leverage and build upon asset and liability knowledge while working closely with each line of business and the Office of Investments on ALM and net investment income analysis. Further opportunities exist to create and enhance value added analysis by continuing to build upon the significant progress the team has made to automate and improve processes. The position works closely with the Office of Treasury regarding liquidity, cash management and the FHLB program. In addition, the team will continue working with actuarial and investment partners to creatively leverage and influence our work on modernization.
Thought Leadership / Internal Consultant – Serves as an internal consultant to all business segments providing guidance and direction on actuarial and risk management issues. Directly supports technical requests from the Chief Actuary and VP-ALM.
Research – Proposes innovative solutions based on industry knowledge, outside research and contact with external consultants. Directs others in research activities as well.
Reports – Responsible for the valuation of new business, embedded value, embedded value attribution and economic capital reporting as well as interpretation of results while meeting production deadlines.
Communication – Routinely communicates with outside rating agencies. Provides technical explanations and consultative analysis internally and externally.
Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance or similar degree. FSA, Chartered Financial Analyst helpful.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze, research and present options to business leaders. Knowledge of actuarial principles, life insurance and tax accounting, finance theory, stochastic modeling, risk management, and the financial services industry.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
