Nationwide’s in-house marketing agency is looking to add a high-quality creative manager to its ranks. Someone who has proven experience managing and leading a team in a high-volume / high-quality production environment. This new position will oversee a 6-person team, focusing on video, motion, animation and photography pre-production and production for the Creative Services organization within iNHouse. The selected candidate will be a proven creative leader, ensuring the quality and the timely development of creative, balancing business needs with member needs, the Nationwide brand and distribution channels.
At its core, this role is responsible for maintaining a high standard of creativity and innovation while seeking new ways to deliver to market. Video, motion and photography are strong visual components for Nationwide’s brand. This team serves to drive sales and to support and enhance Nationwide’s brand & reputation.
Because of the volume and importance of these objectives to Nationwide, it is critical to have a creative manager who understands the needs of our members and our businesses and someone who understands the business of video and photography production and marketing. Someone who can manage a team responsible for the conceptual development of projects while motivating producers, photographers and studio staff to find the best possible creative solutions to complex business needs. The creative manager must be a strong collaborator, must have excellent communication and people management skills, have a passion for innovative thinking and is self-motivated
Creative development & execution
Responsible for the overall holistic creative output looking at the totality of the communications including the content, design, and script writing.
A passion for production; crucially or always exceeding internal and external customer expectations.
Provides direction on artistic design and production methods; develops and implements workflow processes; and adheres to established time standards while maintaining quality
The ability to provide creative direction and fully execute ideas
Reviews current technology in fields of motion design, photography, video, live events; indentifies improved methods, materials and equipment that may benefit department productivity
Sets and enforces brand/company style/image standards in photography and video
May manage the production of one or more visual communications projects for internal/external audiences
Business partner experience & communication
Interacts with leadership presenting creative proposals and solutions
Works with cross-functional teams to develop elements
Works and consults with other Creative Service managers and associates to resolve motion graphic, visual & audio issues that may arise.
Partners with web and social teams to deepen understanding of best practices when distributing for web, mobile or social platforms.
Consults with Account Managers, clients and business stakeholders to determine desired outcome of jobs and help clients understand value of creative services investments
Leadership / management
Strong creative leadership skills

Provides input and manages overall department budget
Manages hiring and coordination of use of outside resources including full-time associates, contractors, freelancers, and production vendors.
Responsible for the management of associates including: performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions
Responsible for reporting cost-savings, cost mitigation and effectiveness of motion, video and photography
Undergraduate studies in art, visual design, video, photography, communications, journalism, advertising or related creative services field; degree preferred.
8 or more years in video or photography production or related experience in progressively responsible creative services position including five years of creative leadership experience
Proven knowledge of communication methodologies and processes specific to assigned media: pre-production and production for video, motion and photography.
Knowledge of human resources administration, including management, training, coaching, and team development
Proven knowledge of consulting skills used to advise clients on creative services, processes and cost implications
Have excellent knowledge of the video and photography production businesses
Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to education, training and development activities
Strong problem-solving skills
Advanced verbal and written communication skills for the creation and delivery of projects and interaction with management and creative teams
Ability to set priorities, manage time, organize work and meet deadlines
An expert understanding of photography and video techniques, lighting and color

RELATIONSHIP: Report to Director level or higher. Responsible for 2 or more direct reports. May be responsible for virtual/project teams.
Manages a multi-function communications and creative services staff; provides direction on design and production methods; develops and implements workflow processes; and, adheres to established time standards while maintaining quality. Manages cross-functional teams to develop creative communications solutions. Responsible for the overall holistic creative output looking at the totality of the communications including the design and content.
Consults with clients and business stakeholders to determine desired outcome of jobs and help clients understand the need for a return on creative services investments. Sets and enforces brand/company style/image standards in web design, content, photography, video.Recommends best practices based on metrics (what worked, what didn't work, how to improve).
Maintains knowledge of business unit's operating priorities, vision and organizational environment to effectively respond to requests for creative services.
Manages the production of one or more communications products for internal/ external audiences such as: presentations and other audio/visual programs; the creation of video and electronic and print media productions; the planning and production of photography for multiple uses; web design and site management; graphics; video production; live events.
Interacts with senior leadership presenting creative proposals. Works with cross-functional teams to develop communications. Works and consults with company managers, editors, and writers to resolve graphic, content, audio-visual problems, web product and related productions. Manages the effective use of social media an as extension of creative strategy.
Reviews current technology in fields of web development and graphic design, photography, video and/or live events; identifies improved methods, materials, and equipment that may benefit department productivity.
Responsible for adhering to production project budgets, division budget and provides input to overall department budget.
Manages the hiring and coordination of use of outside resources including contractors, freelancers, photographers, audio/visual vendors, and special events coordinators.
Responsible for the management of associates including: performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actionsPerforms other duties as assigned.
Education: Undergraduate studies in art, visual design, communications, journalism, advertising or related creative services field; degree preferred.
Experience: Typically 8 or more years related experience in progressively responsible creative service positions. Previous management experience preferred.
Knowledge: Proven knowledge of communication methodologies and processes specific to assigned media: graphics procedures and production skills, web production and related technologies, video production, live event production and/or photography. Proven knowledge of the company structure, organizational dynamics and business operations and priorities. Knowledge of human resources administration, including management, training, coaching, and team development. Proven knowledge of consulting skills used to advise clients on creative services, processes, and cost implications
Skills/Competencies: Customer-focused orientation with strong interpersonal skills. Must have demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and related software.
