Job Summary:Performs complex analysis and productivity management data to support business/sales & service (internal and external) needs; acquires and organizes data to support customer information needs, (i. e. customer profiles, demographics, new sales, marketing and product opportunities, marketing analysis, telephony, etc. ). Conducts quantitative analysis in producing ad hoc internal and external reports. Identifies solutions (Reporting, Citizen Development, Telephony) to enable process improvements and best practices that impact the business. With minimal assistance, develops cost-effective business technology solutions by creating new or modifying existing software solutions using Reporting, Citizen Development or Telephony tools to enhance the service and/or sales process.

Job Description

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with Nationwide associates that might be located in the home office or in the field in determining data and information needs. With minimal assistance, develops, produces and maintains ad hoc/custom reports, Citizen Development solutions, or Telephony solutions. Analyzes and/or troubleshoots information as requested or needed. With minimal assistance, uses various data access tools to pull information to create solutions (Reporting. Citizen Development, Telephony).

  2. Supports sales and productivity management information project needs, special reporting and new technology. Maintains the integrity of information in internal repositories (ie: Access dBs, Excel spreadsheets, etc). With minimal assistance, performs all aspects of project and/or troubleshooting: Understanding needs, gathering requirements, design, creation, testing, and documentation. With minimal assistance, may also perform Project Management functions for projects.

  3. Presents reports, Citizen Development solutions, Telephony solutions, and/or documents to internal customers to assist with understanding patterns and trends and applying information to provide decision support.

Retrieves data from internal and external sources and data files in order to keep internal repositories (ie: Access dBs, Excel spreadsheets, etc) current and usable. Exports information to external sources.

  1. Determines appropriate information to be shared with customers. Evaluates deliverables for accuracy, quality, and relevance

  2. Assesses and monitors key behaviors and trends in standard reporting, Citizen Development, and/or Telephony packages. Assists other associates with preparation of reports and use of information systems, software and related sources of information. Trains other users on report preparation, Citizen Development tools, Telephony tools, and/or data base/repository access.

  3. Performs other duties as assigned.


Education:Undergraduate studies in Business administration, Computer science, or related field preferred.


Experience:Typically three or more years experience in data/process/database research, analysis support, and problem solving. Experience with Access, Reporting tools, Citizen Development tools, Telephony tools, SQL and other query-based applications, and/or analytical software.

Knowledge:Knowledge of PC based spreadsheet and business intelligence applications. Working knowledge of research and reporting, and problem solving skills. Working knowledge of a wide variety of reporting/Citizen Development/Telephony tools, concepts, and techniques. Working knowledge of business processes. Understanding of new technologies and developments in the end-user technology industry. Very strong problem solving skills.

Skills/ Competencies:Verbal and written communication skills for interaction within the functional area. Information documentation and report/solution formulation. Ability to operate a personal computer and develop ad hoc queries using various business software (i.e., SQL, Access, etc.). Must have the ability to work with the user community and project team to define scope. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills to interact with all levels.
