This position is for a rapid response team. The ideal candidate for this role demonstrates a positive attitude, strong professional principles, exceptional communication skills and the ability to build relationships to collaborate with leadership and associates across the Nationwide organization.
They should possess sound knowledge of Agile development procedures, processes, and practices with the ability to implement improvements in the areas of planning, estimating, deliverable execution, quality improvement, and tools. They should also be able to help develop plans to enhance development skills for the IPS Life and Annuity applications.
A background or basic knowledge of life and annuity products and regulations is highly desireable, though not necessary; also, this position must be able to lead meetings, facilitate design discussions, conduct interviews with stakeholders, and to plan for projects and efforts.
The candidate for this position should exhibit excellent technical aptitude with the ability to understand system functionality, interfaces and information. Proven technical and leadership capabilities are more highly valued than specific system knowledge; excellent analytical skills, being self-motivated, and being a good team player are also necessary.
Knowledge of LCS, LCOM, ALS, and/or their interfacing applications is highly desirable.Technical & Other Expectations:• Collaborate with NW lines and Scrum Masters to improve development and test processes for NW lines.• Experience with COBOL (Mainframe and MicroFocus), DB2, and JCL is required.• Experience with JAVA and .Net technologies is a plus.• Desire to learn new technologies and broaden technical skill set.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Develops cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications that are more complex with full competency.2. Analyzes and validates complex system requirements and existing business processes and information systems. Designs, develops and implements new programs and/or modifications of existing applications. Responsible for the more complex designs, prototypes and other methodologies for new and/or existing systems including the development and implementation of test plans and program specifications with various interfaces.3. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents and implements complex software applications according to standards.4. Defines and develops specifications and programs complex technical modules, applications, prototypes and computer programs.5. Assists in leading all aspects of applications programming and development including file design, update, storage and retrieval.6. Evaluates and provides technical solutions to complex application development problems.7. May coordinate activities of a project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs.8. May act as a technical programming consultant for small-scale projects that include multiple product lines and various interfaces.

Performs other duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is preferred.Experience: Three years of experience in programming and systems analysis.Knowledge: Must have proven knowledge in computer programming language. Must have a thorough understanding in systems and data processing policies, practices and procedures. Must have a thorough understanding in systems analysis and design techniques. Must have general knowledge of the systems development life cycle.Skills/Competencies: Must have the ability to analyze moderately complex applications and systems. Must be able to program moderately complex systems requiring minimal interfaces. Must possess problem-solving skills to determine the programming effects on existing systems. Must have moderate decision-making skills for problem identification and solution recommendation.
