JOB SUMMARY: Maximizes revenues from sales of the organization's products and/or services through a base of reseller partners in specific assigned channels. Locates, evaluates and recruits potential channel partners including Distributors, Work-site enrollment firms, TPA's, Regional Health Plans, Association groups and Purchasing coalitions . Supports partners throughout the sales process in all sales-oriented activities, including marketing, advertising, sales promotions, and training to achieve revenue targets. Produces channel revenue in line with current organization and individual targets/quotas.

Job Description

LOCATION: Nationwide Specialty Insurance (NSI), Nationwide Employee Benefits (NEB)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to NSI Director/Executive. No Direct Reports.


1.Identifies new channel sales opportunities for NSI products and services.

2.Participates in the product and service design process and assist in developing strategic plans for launching new products to drive new business revenue growth.

3.Markets and sells products and services to new channel distribution partners and to new prospective employer groups.

4.Provides input to regarding rate and proposals development; presents and negotiates proposals where necessary.

5.Closes sales opportunities to meet NSI business plan revenue goals.

6.Responsible for managing individual activity levels which will meet sales goals and revenue goals.

7.Consults and facilitates the implementation of new business work flows where necessary.

8.Manages and oversees internal staff activities or workflows as a project/product leader which will directly impact sales and revenue results within the new channel.

9.Monitors business plan achievements. Identifies gaps in performance and recommends product, process and outcome changes that will continually improve sales results.

10.Performs other duties as assigned.


Education: Bachelors degree in Business or related field preferred.

Experience: Typically five years sales experience in related product lines with proven track record in sales achievement to similar market targets.

Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of sales techniques. Product knowledge. In-depth understanding of group policies/products and underwriting practices. Knowledge of the phases and aspects of business marketing. Knowledge of the distribution channels and key stakeholders in the healthcare industry. Ability to see opportunity in the marketplace and assist the company in being ahead of the curve.

Skills/Competencies: Proven analytical and planning skills. Command of all written and verbal oral communication skills necessary to present product and outcomes-based information to prospective clients; ability to create and deliver detailed sales presentations; Ability to negotiate positive outcomes for all parties/stakeholders in the potential relationship. Ability to discover/prospect through cold calling, generate leads, and close the sale. Ability to balance strategic direction with tactical execution. Ability to build effective working relationships with internal business partners, as well as brokers, consultants, and other key industry stakeholders and influencers. Ability to multi-task and build collaborative internal relationships. Must be proficient in using computers and related common office software and other applicable business applications.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Extended hours as necessary. Extensive travel required.
