JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for managing and developing commercial inland marine and monoline property business, both through direct contact with select agencies and brokers and through a regional inland marine team consisting of territory managers, underwriters, and support staff. This position will work with the VP, Inland Marine & Property and home office staff to develop regional and countrywide strategies, including underwriting appetite and product development for this strategic business segment.

Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing and developing commercial inland marine and monoline property business, both through direct contact with select agencies and brokers and through a regional inland marine team consisting of territory managers, underwriters, and support staff. This position will work with the VP, Inland Marine & Property and home office staff to develop regional and countrywide strategies, including underwriting appetite and product development for this strategic business segment.

  • Assess the market and recommend product needs from agency and client research, including key competitor products and underwriting strategies, to assist with determining how current products and services meet these needs, and make recommendations for improvements in product and customer satisfaction that will impact the company¿s top and bottom lines. Drive product and service improvements to close identified gaps.

  • Quote, price and underwrite new and renewal policies and endorsements, both directly and through regional underwriting staff, with direct involvement expected on more complex or service sensitive accounts. Monitor risk selection and pricing decisions for regional agency plant. Assure staff and key agents are well trained and versed on product features and benefits, underwriting strategies and processes, and results expectations.

  • Implements Inland Marine underwriting policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for achieving written premium goals for assigned regions.

  • Ensure loss ratio results are in line with corporate objectives.

  • Directly and through staff, develop and maintain agency relationships to meet desired objectives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
