Internal Sales & Service Representative Team Overview:
The National Sales Desk Representative Team is to provide superior consultative sales and service support to customers, financial advisors, and Nationwide Agents. This is done via telephone, email and screen sharing technology.
Internal Sales & Service Manager Overview:
The Internal Sales & Service Manager is responsible for the day to day leadership of the National Sales Desk Representative team, including, but not limited to: coaching and development of 14-16 associates, driving team and department engagement,management of the workflow to ensure that all members have an “on your side” experience and all performance metrics are exceeded. The Internal Sales & Service Manager will also be responsible for identifying and developing associates who have an interest in moving into the Regional Internal Consultant (RIC) role.
3-5 years of management experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to present outside Nationwide

Proven record of coaching and motivating associates and teams to higher levels of performance
Proven record of driving top quartile engagement results and inspiring others
Excellent customer service skills
Retirement product knowledge experience a plus

Series 26 required within 120 days of starting the new role

JOB SUMMARY: Develops and grows strategic sales relationships with producers and firms to increase overall sales production in support of business unit sales goals. Develops, supports and implements individual team sales strategies and campaigns that support business unit?s objectives. Manages team sales activities and addresses crucial or sensitive issues. Manages team performance and addresses improvement opportunities. Develops and maintains effective relationships with business partners, and serves as liaison between department and other business areas. Implements modifications to existing sales or business processes.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compiles information regarding sales activities, production and overall sales results. Coordinates planning, implementation and communication of day-to-day business and technical needs. Manages all team activities including sensitive issues, asset retention efforts, etc. Captures types of issues and documents and communicates processes to ensure consistency. Partners and continuously communicates with other managers to ensure consistency throughout teams. Addresses and manages crucial escalated sales inquiries/issues.
Oversees the development and execution of territory(s) marketing plans. Reviews call effectiveness and manages/rates performance. Identifies and develops new market opportunities, campaigns and sales techniques. Recommends product and procedural modifications to facilitate sales.
Develops and maintains effective and lasting relationships with related departments; including Operations, sales field management, plan administrators, Marketing, external wholesalers, executives, General Counsel, etc. Partners with other sales and service areas to fully understand business goals and needs. Provides advice and technical information to other areas, and partners with them to evaluate and implement modifications to existing processes. Represents sales management in matters of product development and implementation. Manages correspondence between department and other managers, wholesalers, executives, producers, etc.
Fulfills registered principal duties by managing licensed representatives and monitoring their correspondence.
Communicates, supports and implements business unit?s strategies at the operating level. Develops and implements individual team sales strategies that support objectives. Initiates the development, implementation and reporting of sales standards consistent with departmental goals. Represents area and/or department on different strategic committees/projects. Provides recommendations and advice to other areas, regarding business feasibility of proposed strategies, tactical plans and/or modifications to existing sales or business practices. Coordinates and monitors outbound strategies in support of sales processes.
Provides input to budget development and manages expenses accordingly.
Partners with the training area to conduct analysis of training opportunities. Makes recommendations on training needs. Acts as a coach and trainer for team. Conducts analysis to identify training opportunities and/or procedural changes, and makes recommendations to director and/or training manager as needed. Identifies and develops new market opportunities, campaigns, and sales techniques.
Responsible for the management of associates including: performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
TYPICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:Education: Undergraduate studies in Business, Finance, Communications, Marketing or related field.License/Certification/Designation: Associates must obtain the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.Experience: Seven years experience in a sales driven position including managing sales associates required. Experience in sales in a call center environment preferred.Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of insurance and financial products and the associated sales processes and channels.Skills/Competencies: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with external sales force. Must have good social and phone etiquette to influence the sale of products through the external sales force.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
